What is a Visa?

What is an Indian Visa?
An Indian visa is a travel document issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate to nationals of countries that have diplomatic relations with India. The passport holder must present valid identification and visa application form along with required documents, fees and taxes when applying for an Indian visa.
Brazilian citizens can apply for an Indian visa through the Brazilian Embassy in their country of residence. Applicants must provide valid identification, a recent passport-style photograph, proof of stay in Brazil (if longer than 90 days), and a completed application form. Required documents include your passport size photograph, a copy of your passport page containing your visa application stamp, proof of citizenship (a current driver’s license or ID card) and two recent photographs. Both Brazilian and Indian visas are valid for single entries into India for 30 days each. Extensions are possible but require prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs in India. Travelling without a valid visa may result in arrest, imprisonment and deportation from India.
How to Get an Indian Visa for Irish Citizens and Brazilian Visa for Indian Citizens
If you are a citizen of Ireland or Brazil, you can apply for an Indian visa online. Both Irish and Brazilian visas require a valid passport. Indian Visa for Polish Citizens
To get an Indian visa for Irish citizens, you will need to visit the India Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in New Delhi. To get a Brazilian visa for Indian citizens, you will need to visit the Brazil Embassy in Dublin.
The IVAC accept applications from 1 July to 30 September each year. The Brazilian Embassy in Dublin accepts applications from 1 January to 30 April each year.
Both embassies require that you provide proof of nationality and your passport number. You will also need to provide your interview date and flight information.
